Asgaard Torrent Site Operators Convicted of Copyright Infringement
It’s been reported that the Asgaard torrent site operators are being convicted by the Danish police for copyright infringement.
Asgaard was one of the more popular private torrent sites in Denmark with millions of total visits since its launch.

A report from TorrentFreak noted that the Asgaard torrent website started in 2019 and quickly grew in popularity.
However, as torrent websites become popular they start to gain unwanted attention from copyright authorities.
In this instance, a Danish anti-piracy group called the Rights Alliance began investigating Asgaard and was in contact with the Danish police.
There were reportedly seven original ringleaders of Asgaard who were all arrested in a matter of weeks by authorities.
Fast forward to 2022 and two more “ringleaders” of Asgaard were convicted of copyright offenses.
The Rights Alliance published a press release on the situation and their CEO, Maria Fredenslund, stated the following:
“The ringleader cases for Asgaard clearly illustrate that rights holders’ media content, film series, etc. are used to commit systematic, organized crime. For each completed case, a clearer picture emerges of how the people behind the file-sharing service organize themselves and what methods they use. We are becoming increasingly aware of the illegal market and cases like this may contribute insights that will be crucial in the IPR unit’s future efforts to prevent copyright infringement on the Internet.”
Within the same press release, the Rights Alliance also posted an image explaining the functions of the various ringleaders in the Asgaard operation.

Overall, it will be interesting to see what happens after this conviction of Asgaard and if more torrent website operators are in the crosshairs.
