As reported by Variety, Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed the news at the Deutsche Bank 30th Annual Media, Internet & Telecom Conference.
This laid to rest various rumors that these services would be available as packaged bundles.
One of the most important items here is that we believe in a combined product as opposed to a bundle… We believe that the breadth and depth of this content offering is going to be a phenomenal consumer value proposition
Both Discovery Plus and HBO Max offer various subscription options to choose from.
These come in the form of ad-free and ad-based versions of the application.
Currently, Discovery Plus costs $4.99/month for the ad-based version and $6.99/month for ad-free.
HBO Max offers their ad-based subscription for $9.99/month while the ad-free option costs $14.99/month.
While there is no word of a set price for the Discovery Plus/HBO Max App, Wiedenfels noted that this app will also offer both ad-free and ad-based options.
Big Tech and Streaming companies are no strangers to mergers and acquisitions.
Last year we saw Amazon Purchase MGM for over $8 Billion.
